Safe Containers

Women were seeking a space to share experiences, find trusted guides, and access reliable psychedelic educational information. Yet, there was an absence of women-centered psychedelic communities in Los Angeles that catered to people of various ages and professions. Recognizing this gap, I launched an in-person women's group, intending to create an inclusive environment for seekers, scientists, therapists, and guides. As the demand grew, the challenge expanded to building an online community that transcended geographical boundaries, allowing for a global connection.

Women engaging with psychedelics lacked a safe, supportive, and trusted community to integrate their experiences and find reputable resources both in-person and online. To further the risk reduction mission and be able to serve more women, the needed to expand beyond monthly gatherings and into the online realm, ensuring consistent availability for support, education, and risk reduction.

Creating and launching an in-person community, we were able host monthly meetings in a welcoming living room setting, which fostered an environment that prioritized safety, support, and education around psychedelics. As the in-person gatherings gained popularity, with waiting lists growing and word-of-mouth recommendations multiplying, the next step involved expanding to an online global community. The ultimate goal was to establish a safe and supportive global women’s community where ongoing education and risk reduction transcended physical boundaries.

In-Person Community: Over the course of nine months, the in-person community successfully curated nine gatherings, each centered around themes such as integration and profound journeys. These events attracted a total of 120 in-person attendees, highlighting the demand for such spaces in the local community.

Online Community: With a membership structure fostering one degree of separation, the community achieved remarkable success. Monthly community conversations around risk reduction and the sharing of resources has contributed to a 10% month-over-month increase in member participation. Additionally, the online community experienced an impressive 35% monthly growth in new members, demonstrating the widespread need for and impact of such a global platform.
